| Sherry is cancer free!!!! Submitted by: Jessica Ables | As most of you know, my sister-in-law, Sherry Allcorn, has been battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma since February 2007. She would go into remission for a short time before she would relapse, which happened in 2009 and earlier this year. She went into the hospital on October 3rd for an allogeneic stem cell transplant to try to cure her cancer. The donor was a perfect match, and she had the transplant on October 11th. She did really well with the transplant, although she had pneumonia and GVHD (graft-versus-host disease) in the beginning. The Dr.'s said they wanted her to have some GVHD since it meant the transplant was working and so her risk of the cancer coming back would be reduced. She came home on the 26th after 3 weeks in the hospital. She is doing very well, however, her immune system is still weak and it may take a while for her to gain all of her strength back. We got some good news today. Sherry went to the Dr. today and had a PET scan and other tests done. The Dr. came in with the results of her scan and said that Sherry is cancer free! Thank you, Jesus!! Thank you all so much for praying for her; continue praying for a speedy recovery for her, for her strength to come back, and for her immune system to work properly again soon.
